Late Talkers

Late talkers are children (ages 1-3) who are late meeting their milestones. There is a lot of variety in language development as every child is different however, there are general points in time, where we like to “check in” to ensure children are developing language at an appropriate pace. We can help assess your child to see how they are understanding and using language and then provide support if they require it. This support is primarily through 1:1 parent coaching sessions with your child and the SLP. We believe in equipping parents with the knowledge, resources, and strategies needed to support their child’s speech and language development at home as this is where the MAGIC happens!

Preschool Speech and Language

We see children in the preschool years (ages 3-5) who are having difficulty with their speech sounds and language development. These kids are often described as “difficult to understand”, “easily frustrated” and “do not seem to use enough words.” We can complete an assessment to determine if your child would benefit from SLP support. Support is delivered in 1:1 play-based sessions that work on specific and measurable goals. Parents are always welcome in the session to learn the specific strategies and be part of the therapy. Home practice is given after each session so the learning can continue at home between sessions.

School Aged Speech and Language

We see children (aged 6-12) who are having difficulty with specific speech sounds (often that darn R sound!), have been diagnosed with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), Apraxia of Speech (CAS) or struggling in school and require a more in-depth language assessment. We provide comprehensive language assessments (if needed) to determine exactly how we can support your child so they can reach their full potential. We also work with kids with ADHD and executive functioning difficulty.
